Hilda Pacheco is a Florida-certified K–12 educator. She graduated cum laude from the University of Puerto Rico and completed postgraduate studies at Barry University. Born in Havana, Cuba, she and her family fled the island when she was two years old and settled in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where Hilda was raised and completed most of her schooling.
In 1982, she moved to Miami, Florida, where she taught for 40 years. During her career, she served as Middle School Curriculum Coordinator and was a member of the Administrative Team at St. Kevin School, where she taught for the final 25 years of her professional life.
Hilda retired in 2021 and has since served as a volunteer and contributor with Different Brains. Both as an educator and as a parent, she has firsthand experience with the neurodivergent community, which she holds very dear to her heart.
Throughout her 40-year career, Hilda gained extensive experience helping students grow, learn, and develop in both general and special education settings. Her greatest reward has always been reconnecting with former students—especially those who faced significant challenges—who return as adults to share that they are doing well and building meaningful lives of their own.
She hopes to be an advocate and a voice for those who may be seen as “different,” but who are fully capable of achieving success and fulfillment in their lives.
