(32 mins) In this episode, hosts Katherine Cody, Psy.D. and Becca Lory, CAS, BCCS welcome guest Valerie Gaus, Ph.D.. Dr. Gaus is a psychologist, licensed by New York State, who has been a practicing psychotherapist for more than 20 years. She specializes in individual psychotherapy for adults of all ages, from 18-98, with extensive experience serving people with disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, anxiety, depression, trauma and stress-related problems. She approaches therapy using a cognitive-behavioral framework. She has written numerous articles and chapters on these subjects, as well as two books. The three discuss the Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to autism, and how to recognize and avoid negative thinking patterns.
